I’m continually amazed by how quickly you grow and change. Your clothes are often too small, but I try not to buy too much of one size because I know you’re going to outgrow them quickly. I definitely don’t buy as many clothes for you as I did for your sister, partly because I’ve wised up and partly because boys’ clothes just aren’t as cute.
This month has been tough on your little mouth. You sprouted four new teeth, including two painful molars that I didn’t notice until I brushed your teeth last night (personal note: brush Palmer’s teeth more regularly), bringing your teeth total to eight. You still have those prominent top two teeth that I absolutely adore. I desperately wish there were something more I could do to help with your teething pain. Motrin and teething tablets just don’t do the trick, and I hate to hear you cry and pull at your mouth.
On a happier note, you have perfected your walking skills this past month. In fact, you’re practically running. You still tumble from time to time, but not near as much. You now do that adorable thing that little kids your age do: you squat. It’s so cute to see your little body crunched up, feet flat on the floor, playing with cars or balls or other round things.
One side-effect of your increased mobility is that you are more accident prone. Most of your accidents result in cuts and bruises to your face. Lovely. The other morning I went into your room to get you out of bed and you had a bloody lip. You hadn’t even left your crib and you had already injured yourself.
You’re still not talking much but you seem to understand everything. I can give you multiple step instructions and you follow them perfectly. We’re currently working on teaching you body parts. You know nose, ears, feet and, your personal favorite, belly. We ask you where your belly is and you grin and lift your shirt.
Your 15-month check-up is Wednesday morning. I’m excited to see the official weight and growth readings. Not looking forward to the shots.
