How can you be dead to the world asleep while I'm holding you, but you instantly become wide awake when I put you down?

If you get this figured out, please teach me your magic. Parker did the exact same thing for my entire maternity leave - and it drove me crazy - but I never figured out how to solve it. Once we stopped co-sleeping at night (four months) she became a much better solitary sleeper for naps, too.
By the way, I'm loving your photographs - she's awesome.
