Realization

We were watching a news story last night about Santa and realized that this time next year we'll be able to take 10-month-old Georgia to see Santa for the first time. This is better than the time I realized I'll get to paint her fingernails and toenails.

Christmas Planning

We have so many holiday activities planned over the next month, but all I can think about is how we'll celebrate the holidays next year. We'll have to get a new Christmas tree because our little one just won't do for our sweet girl. Most of the gifts under the tree will be for Georgia instead of for us. We're looking forward to seeing Christmas through your eyes.

So much about our lives has changed already. Today I ordered your stroller/car seat, Thursday we attend our first childbirth class and next week I'm meeting with our financial planner to discuss the best college fund. This time last year we were planning our New Year's trip to Galveston and wondering how many cases of beer would be enough for the whole weekend. You have completely changed our lives, and you haven't even arrived yet.

Ring, Ring

I understand that my belly is going to get bigger as the baby gets bigger. That's pretty obvious. However, what is the benefit of my hands swelling? Call me crazy, but I don't think swollen hands are going to help the process, especially since I can't get my wedding ring off. It seems like more of a hindrance to me. I really don't want to get it cut off (the ring, not my finger), but I don't know if I have much of a choice.

Me and My Shadow

I was working downstairs tonight and heard Pancho growling. I got up to check it out and realized that Pancho had discovered his shadow. He's three years old and it made me wonder how old Georgia will be when she finds her shadow. I doubt she'll growl at it like Pancho did, but I wonder how she'll react.

Puppy Love

One of the many things we've been hearing about from friends is how our beloved dogs, Pancho and Lefty, will be knocked from top dogs to virtual annoyances. Is this really possible? Will your presence somehow eclipse our love of scratching behind ears, wrestling on the living room floor, watching Pancho try to bury bones under the carpet and hugging Lefty? When you learn to walk, will you join the boys in their ritual of running to the door to greet Tyler when they hear the garage door open every evening? WIll you love them as much as we do? And more importantly, will they love you? I think they already do.

Here's To You

Since we decided to have a baby while living 800 miles from home, we thought we'd make things a little easier by creating an online diary about our sweet baby Georgia. We're certain you'll want to check back several times daily to learn about her latest developments. We'll do our best to keep you updated. Enjoy!
